Use this handy checklist for cleaning the bathroom.

Large Bathroom Deep Cleaning Checklist

  • GENERAL PREP
  • Remove all items from countertops, shower, bathtub, and floors
  • Shake out rugs and put in laundry or outside to air
  • Take out trash and replace liner
  • Open windows or turn on exhaust fan for ventilation
  • MIRRORS AND GLASS
  • Spray with glass cleaner or vinegar solution
  • Wipe with a microfiber cloth or newspaper for a streak-free finish
  • Spot check for toothpaste splatter or smudges
  • TOILET
  • Apply toilet bowl cleaner and let sit
  • Scrub bowl with toilet brush (under rim and down the trap)
  • Wipe tank, handle, lid, and base with disinfectant
  • Don’t forget behind the toilet!
  • SHOWER
  • Remove and clean shower caddy
  • Spray walls and door with descaler or vinegar
  • Scrub grout and tile with brush
  • Clean showerhead (soak in vinegar if clogged)
  • Wipe or squeegee glass door
  • Disinfect handles and knobs
  • Clear and clean the drain
  • BATHTUB
  • Rinse and spray tub with cleaner
  • Scrub walls and basin with non-abrasive sponge
  • Pay extra attention to soap scum and hair buildup
  • Disinfect faucet and knobs
  • Rinse and wipe dry
  • COUNTERS AND SINK
  • Remove all items and wipe down countertop
  • Clean under and behind containers
  • Scrub sink basin and faucet with cleaner
  • Polish faucet handles
  • Wipe down backsplash
  • CABINETRY AND DRAWERS
  • Wipe down cabinet fronts and knobs
  • Clean inside drawers (remove debris and dust)
  • Reorganize and toss expired items
  • FLOORS
  • Sweep thoroughly (especially corners)
  • Mop with disinfectant or appropriate floor cleaner
  • Spot scrub any stubborn stains
  • Let floors dry completely before replacing rugs
  • FINISHING TOUCHES
  • Replace towels, rugs, and toiletries
  • Restock toilet paper and soap
  • Add air freshener or essential oil diffuser
  • Close cabinets neatly and check that all surfaces are dry
