Use this handy checklist for cleaning the kitchen room.

Kitchen Deep Cleaning Checklist

  • GENERAL PREP
  • Remove all clutter from countertops, tables, and floors
  • Take out trash and recycling
  • Shake out or launder kitchen mats and rugs
  • Open windows or run exhaust fan for ventilation
  • SURFACES & COUNTERS
  • Clear and wipe down countertops
  • Clean backsplash with degreaser or all-purpose spray
  • Disinfect handles, knobs, and light switches
  • Wipe down walls where food splatter may occur
  • CABINETS AND DRAWERS
  • Wipe down all cabinet and drawer fronts
  • Disinfect handles and pulls
  • Clean inside drawers and shelves (remove crumbs/debris)
  • Reorganize contents and toss expired or unused items
  • SINK & FAUCET
  • Scrub sink basin with disinfecting cleaner
  • Use baking soda + vinegar or soft scrub for shine and deodorizing
  • Polish faucet and handles
  • Run garbage disposal with ice and lemon/vinegar
  • WALLS, TRIM, AND BASEBOARDS
  • Spot-clean walls (look for splashes, grease, fingerprints)
  • Dust and wipe baseboards and trim
  • Clean any open shelving or decorative molding
  • WINDOWS AND DOORS
  • Clean windows and window sills
  • Wipe down door frames and handles
  • Clean any sliding glass doors (inside and outside if accessible)
  • FLOORS
  • Sweep floors thoroughly, including under furniture
  • Mop with degreasing floor cleaner
  • Hand scrub edges and corners if needed
  • Let dry completely before replacing rugs
  • REFRIGERATOR & FREEZER
  • Empty all contents (discard expired items)
  • Remove and wash shelves and drawers with warm soapy water
  • Wipe interior walls and seals
  • Clean exterior surfaces and handles
  • Vacuum condenser coils (if accessible)
  • OVEN & STOVETOP
  • Remove oven racks and soak
  • Use oven cleaner or baking soda paste on interior
  • Wipe down stovetop (lift burners if possible)
  • Scrub burner grates and knobs
  • Clean control panel and backsplash area
  • MICROWAVE
  • Heat bowl of water + lemon or vinegar to loosen grime
  • Wipe interior walls, ceiling, and tray
  • Clean exterior and keypad
  • TOASTER OR TOASTER OVEN
  • Unplug and remove crumb tray
  • Shake out crumbs and wipe interior
  • Wipe exterior
  • DISHWASHER
  • Remove and clean filter
  • Run a cycle with vinegar or dishwasher cleaner
  • Wipe seals, edges, and front panel
  • SMALL APPLIANCES
  • Disassemble and wash parts (e.g., blender, mixer, food processor)
  • Wipe down exterior
  • Descale coffee maker if needed (run vinegar rinse cycle)
