Homemade gifts for Mother's Day beat expensive gifts, by a landslide

A homemade gift from the kids stands strong at the top of the list, while a big expensive gift is clearly the least favorite. We learned that the greatest gift is finding out that the kids spent time creating a simple gift for mom while thinking of her. But moms can get stressed out when a lot of money is spent on a gift. After all, it's coming out of the family budget!

If you're looking for store-bought gift ideas, here's how moms ranked the choices:
- Best Bets (ranked #1 most often): Gift card, Day at the spa, Flowers
- Find Out First (ranked often in the top three, and often in the bottom three): Day at the spa, Tech gift like an iPad
- Ho-hum (Not ranked at the top, nor the bottom): Clothes or shoes
- Use Caution! (often ranked at the bottom, but 25% still ranked in the top 3): Kitchen tools, Perfume
- Safe! (least often ranked last): Jewelry
Mix up the schedule for Mother's Day

Of everything that could happen on Mother's Day, the most ideal thing to moms is that they spend time with their kids. No brainer! So prepare the kids beforehand: no complaining about the meal, no asking for a different meal, and start cleaning up before someone has to ask you!
