Is Busy Better for Families? Parents Weigh in
Being busy is part of family life, but is too much scheduled activity a bad thing for kids and families? We might be exhausted at the end of the day, but some experts believe that being busy is better for kids and families.
Cozi wanted to know how real parents feel about the good and bad of being busy, so we asked over 200 parents to tell us about their schedules and how happy they are with their own level of busyness.
It was no surprise that our families are busy. But despite the juggling of activities and the gripes about never having a moment to sit down, parents are overwhelmingly happy with their crowded schedules. Even parents of the most active kids aren't letting the chaos get them down: Eighty-six percent of families in the highest activity levels (16 or more hours per week) were somewhat or very happy with their schedule.
A majority of parents feel that having kids in activities is a good thing. So we asked how scheduled activities might affect children, in both positive and negative ways. Here is what they said:
