Gannett ® Announces Strategic Investment in Cozi Group, Inc.
Partnership Underscores a Shared Vision to Address the Needs of Busy Families with Innovative Technology

SEATTLE — June 19, 2008 — Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI), a leading international news and information company, today announced an investment in Cozi (, a free web service that helps busy families manage schedules, share information and stay in communication. As part of the equity investment, Gannett will receive a minority stake in Cozi and a seat on the company’s Board of Directors. Gannett will market the Cozi brand and product throughout its media channels which include USA TODAY, its network of 85 daily and regional newspapers, hundreds of local web sites and 23 television stations across the country.

Cozi launched in the fall of 2006 and now has more than 600,000 family members. The innovative web service provides modern solutions to help families organize and simplify their busy lives with a central family calendar, customized shopping and to do lists, an easy-to-use family blog and simple messaging tools to stay in communication—all in one place. Families can access Cozi from home, work or on-the-go with any computer or mobile phone so they are always connected to the information they need.

As part of the partnership, the companies will collaborate on product innovations that tap into Gannett’s deep local content, information and calendar data. New Cozi features, to be announced later this year, will help families more easily manage calendars and plan activities in the communities where they work, go to school and actually live their busy lives.

Gannett’s investment in Cozi’s business spotlights an emerging and influential consumer sector; family-oriented technology users. Gannett’s media network offers a vital communication channel with deep local ties to promote easier ways for family members to stay connected to each other and their community.

The strategic investment will help Cozi continue new product development and fuel its efforts to reach active families in order to be invited into the center of busy family life. Gannett reaches on average 75 percent of all adults in its local markets through its network of newspapers and web sites each week as well as nearly 20 million households through the company’s broadcast outlets.
