Cozi® Named One of Washington's Best Workplaces by Puget Sound Business Journal
2010 Finalists honored and winners announced at special event on August 12
Seattle – July 13, 2010– Cozi (www.cozi.com), the world’s leading family communications and organizational platform, today announced that it has been named as one of the finalists for Washington's Best Workplaces by the Puget Sound Business Journal. Founded in 2005, Cozi is the industry's first and most comprehensive online platform for families to better communicate, coordinate, and simplify their day-to-day activities, from any computer or mobile device.
The Puget Sound Business Journal award for best workplaces was launched in 2007 to identify and recognize best practices in the hiring and retention of great people. After an extensive and rigorous process, which included the completion of surveys by nominee-company employees across the state, workplaces in five different categoriessmall, medium, large, extra-large company and nonprofit organizationhave been identified as Washington's best, based on their various employee benefit offerings, leadership culture and work/life balance philosophies. In total, 80 companies have made the grade as finalists.
After recognizing the overwhelming market need to help families stay better organized, CEO, Co-Founder and father of three, Robbie Cape, brought Cozi to life in 2005. Now, five years later, Cozi has more than 2.5 million registered family members. At Cozi, families are not just the company's passion but an essential part of its culture. Cozi has a family room for meetings, employees regularly get together for family meals at lunchtime, and twice a year, the offices are closed for Cozi family vacations so employees can spend quality time with their own families without the pressure of mounting emails and deadlines.
If you look at any part of our company—our website, our office, or our business partnerships—it’s obvious that we have a fanatical focus on families, said Robbie Cape, CEO and Co-Founder of Cozi. We feel honored that the Puget Sound Business Journal has recognized this approach we have taken to company culture, and believe that it signals a trend toward creating a new, holistic type of successful business culture.
Work-force development has never been more important – or more difficult – than it is in today’s global economy, said Emory Thomas Jr., publisher of the Business Journal. We believe the Business Journal, as the Puget Sound area’s top source of business information, has an important role to play in drawing attention to innovations and excellence in the management of our region’s No. 1 resource: Its people.
The 80 finalists will be celebrated at a one-of-a-kind awards event at Safeco Field on Aug. 12. Honorees and the public alike are invited to cheer for the workplace accomplishments of these companies from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The celebration will include ballpark food and drink, walking the bases, speed pitching and an awards presentation.
