Email addresses in Cozi Accounts

 

With Cozi, you need only one account for your family. Everyone in your account will be able to securely access this account from any computer and from their mobile devices. Your family account has one shared password and can contain multiple email addresses—one for each family member. To sign in to Cozi, you can use any of the email address included in your account, along with the shared password.

You can modify the family members who are in your Cozi account in the Household Settings.

If you receive a message that your email address is already in use, it's possible that someone else has included you in their Cozi account. If you're not sure who included you in an account, here are some common scenarios:

  • Another family member has already added you to an account they've created for your household
  • Multiple accounts have been created for your family by accident by family members who didn't realize that each family only needs one account
  • A friend or extended family member added you to their account to keep you informed, but didn't let you know

Share your calendar or journal with people outside your household

While it's possible to create multiple Cozi accounts, in most cases it's not necessary. Calendar publishing and Family Journal sharing provide you some alternatives that allow you to share your information with people who are not in your account.

Calendar publishing

If you want to share your calendar with someone outside your household, you can use Calendar Sharing. Calendar Sharing allows you to publish a read-only version of your calendar.

Family Journal sharing

There are a number of ways to share your family journal with people outside your household without adding their email addresses to your account on the household settings page. Learn more about sharing family journal.

If you’re sure you need more than one Cozi account

If you're sure you need more than one Cozi account, you have a few alternatives:

  • Creating multiple accounts with different email addresses
    To create multiple Cozi accounts, just use a different email address in each account to avoid password and access problems. If you are including friends or extended family in your Cozi account, please let them know so they do not try to use the same e-mail address for their own Cozi account.
  • Email forwarding
    This solution works well for people who only check one primary email account, but need to use two different Cozi accounts (this is fairly rare). To use email forwarding, establish a second web-based email account which forwards all the email to that address to your primary email. Then, use your primary email address in one Cozi account, and the alternate email address in your second Cozi account.
  • Another alternative for Gmail users is to add a plus symbol in your email address. Gmail will ignore anything after the plus sign in a gmail address. For example, email to "duttonfamily+cozi@gmail.com" will be delivered to the gmail account "duttonfamily@gmail.com." However, Cozi sees these addresses as distinct. So if you are a Gmail user, you could create two Cozi accounts, one with your normal email address, and a second variant using the "plus" trick above. Email messages (e.g., reminders or password reset emails) from both accounts will end up in the same Gmail inbox. But again, you don’t need multiple Cozi accounts for the same household—so only use this tip if you are sure you need two accounts.

Resetting your password

If you no longer remember the password to your Cozi account, you can reset it.
